Plants that grow well on the outer raised beds of the hoop house include; Peppers, Kale, Swiss Chard, Eggplants and some Bush Beans as well as Green Onions. We have 188 square feet of raised beds plus space for 2 halves of a 55 gallon drum and 2 other large planters in this hoop house. For the length of greenhouse plastic to purchase you need the length of the hoop house plus 2 feet.

The diffused light provides a more even light distribution throughout the interior of the hoop house, reducing the occurrence of hotspots and minimizing the risk of scorching plants. Take 1/4 wooden frame and connect it to all of the hoops together by screws. This will improve the strength of the hoop house and will make it bear strong winds. The length of the DIY Hoop House can be chosen according to your requirements. Our designed hoop tunnel is 240 inches (20 feet) in length and we have spaced the hoops exactly 48 inches (4 feet) apart.
